Red face Lost email storage folder from Windows Live

Hi
It would be most appreciated if there is any help or advice about recovering Windows Live online web service for email as I've lost the entire contents of my previous email storage folder. The recent re-installation of Windows Live only reverted to the Outlook Express storage folder and imported the saved emails from there. If possible, kindly help me to recover the lost storage emails, please.
Kind regards
Edcondi

The reply received was as follows:

If you have uninstalled Windows Live Mail without backing up your messages., these can no longer recovered when you reinstalled the program. This is because the Storage Folder messages are saved in Windows Live Mail program folder and the program folder is deleted when you uninstall the program. This is the reason why only Outlook Express saved messages are imported again the program when you reinstalled it.

If the messages you are looking for are messages that are not moved in Storage Folder, please check your Windows Live Hotmail as the messages should still be saved in there. However, if the message are recently moved to Storage Folder before you uninstall the program, you may contact Windows Live Hotmail Support Team for possibility of recovering the messages if these are still in their Deleted Items bin.

The support for Windows Live Hotmail is currently provided through Windows Live Solution Center. Please visit Windows Live Help and register your account to get assistance with the problem that you are currently experiencing with Windows Live Hotmail.

Windows Live Help replied as follows:

e-mail clients have an “archiving” feature. This feature moves your messages from the Windows Live Hotmail e-mail server to your hard disk. The Windows Live Hotmail server may be unable to recover the messages you have downloaded from it as they are now stored in your e-mail client. Once downloaded, the e-mail messages will no longer show up on the Windows Live Hotmail Web interface. For more information on viewing your messages using your e-mail client, please contact the e-mail client support team.

This needs to be explained to me in more detail to help me to carry out their instructions accurately.
TKind regards

Use the Windows Explorer search tool to look for files with the suffix .dbx - if you find any with the same names as the folders that you have lost you may be lucky. Copy these files - all of them - to a new folders (such as My Emails) in MY Documents and then, in Windows Live, go to the import tool (file > import > messages > windows live mail > "browse" to bring the message folders back into use.

Importing lost email files

I used the Windows Explorer search tool to look for files with the suffix .dbx. I found a number of files as those that were lost. Next I copied these files - all of them - to a new folders (such as My Emails) in MY Documents and then imported them in Windows Live by going to the import tool (file > import > messages > windows live mail > "browse" to bring the message folders back into use. Under the Storage Folders section in Windows Live Mail I have a sub folder called IMPORTED FOLDER within this is the folder My Emails. However, the My Emails folder is shown that @There are no items in this view'.
Kindly help and advise further how I may view the imported missing emails, if possible, please. Thank you very much for your most considerate and kind help to me.
Kind regards
Edcondi

Lost storage emails in Windows Live

I just wish to convey my thanks all for the help with retrieving my lost emails in the Windows Live storage folder. I noticed that I had retrieved the lost files unexpectedly this day. They were lost after uninstalling Windows Live with Revo uninstaller. This message of thanks and appreciation also goes out to Windows Live Help team. I had contacted them further to your advice regarding the problem.
Kind regards
Edcondi

Opening imported .dbx files

Recently I have a problem of lost/deleted emails from my Windows Live Mail account Storage folders. I searched for the'.dbx' files on the PC and imported the messages into the Windows Live Mail format after selecting the required folder from the BROWSE drop down menu. However, the import stops with the following Warning Alert message:

" NO MESSAGES CAN BE FOUND IN THIS FOLDER OR ANOTHER APPLICATION IS RUNNING THAT HAS THE REQUIRED FILES IPEN. PLEASE SELECT ANOTHER FOLDER OR TRY CLOSING APPLICATIONS THAT MAY HAVE FILES OPEN."

I closed all open files and folders and browser windows except for Windows Live Mail Import dialog box, which had been opened to carry out the required import of messages. The import of these messages does not take effect and the same Warning Alert message is received, as show above.
I would be most grateful for your kind help and advice to resolve this problem.
Kind regards
Edcondi

You could try running the import routine in safe mode, perhaps?

You just had to post in a 10 month old thread just to give us that pearl of wisdom?

As Albert quite rightly intimates, computers can take a hell of a lot of diagnosing to get to the bottom of what seems to be a simple problem.

Lost emails

Thank you very much for your kind consideration of my problem. I have accessed most of the lost emails from the *.dbx files' search. But some turned out to be empty eventhough they showed a large file size. Is there any help with this when using the outlook repair dbx tool, please? Otherwise this was a good program which helped retrieve a lot of previously lost emails. I'm still searching for some emails that might be needed.
I'm also working with DBXTriever, which is freeware for three days.
Thanks a million!
