[SOLVED] New m/c, vid card error

Hi all,

Any help would be appreciated. I have just got my new machine a few days ago. Installed windows xp tonight and seeing I couldnt get the internet working I thought I would atleast transfer all the other stuff while waiting on instructions to get the internet fixed. I am a regular player of Tiger woods pga tour 08 and have been running this game on my old machine with a 7600gt 256mb video card and it has run extremely well for the last 2 years. So installed windows, then installed the game registering it(not online yet) and went to boot it up and got the follwing error message; THE GAME DOES NOT OFFICIALLY SUPPORT THIS VIDEO CARD.YOU MAY EXPERIENCE GRAPHICAL ANOMOLIES OR PERFORMANCE PROBLEMS WHILE RUNNING THE PROGRAM. Then this message window;DIRECTX IS REPORTING THAT THERE IS NOT ENOUGH VIDEO MEMORY TO RUN THE GAME.

The thing that amazes me with this error is this card is a Gigabyte 9600gt 1 gig 256 bit which is a brand new card. It maybe drivers or something that need updating but until I atleast get an internet connection updating anything isnt possible.

Have you installed the video card drivers (should have been an install CD with the card when new).

Oh come on, sure it's possible. I'm sure you have a friend with internet someplace, yes? Or at least somewhere with public access? You could grab a flash drive and pop the drivers on there and take it home with you

Also, should you find someone with internet, check for any patches or fixes for the game. There have been issues with older versions of the game from 2003 where the game had similar errors and it was because it hadn't been properly patched. The deal with 2003 was that the game couldn't handle more than 128megabytes of RAM on the video card. So if you tried running it with a 256, then it would crash. Perhaps there's a similar issue on 2008? It's only a guess.

In the worst case, if your video drivers don't solve the problem, try uninstalling and reinstalling the game. It may resolve something.

Glad you got it sorted out. I now command you to get a hole in one. Screen-shot or it didn't happen.
