My Graphics Card Is Running Hot, I Know It Is A Hot Running Card But It Turned My System Off, What Is A Safe Temp For It To Be Running At, Before It Does Damage And If You Have Any Advice That Would Be Great

Thanks

There is a fair amount of debate on the maximum safe temperature on a graphics card of that type. The consensus seems to be about 80c, if memory serves me correctly.

I use a slot cooler in order to help keep my card cool.
Here is an example of what I mean - http://www.velocityreviews.com/reviews/review52/14.jpg
A google picture search will find a few different types.
I have mine mounted above my graphics card so that it doesn't interfere with the card's own fan. This works well as heat rises.

I hope that is of some help to you.

A common problem is that there is not enough cool air getting into the system case.
You could check the following:
1 - make sure your system is not near a heat source such as a radiator
2 - check that all air inlets are clear of dust bunnies, dead cats, sleeping dogs etc etc
3 - check that there is a balanced airflow through the case - if all the fans are sucking out (for example) there may not be enough air getting in and the pressure too low for the fan on the GPU to pull air into its own ducts. Remember that the PSU fan will suck air out of the case.
A useful test is to take the side off - if it runs cooler then you have an air balance problem!

You could also install an aftermarket cooler.

Remember that slot coolers can only blow air out of the case, they cannot be reversed like a normal fan. So don't place one over you cards own fan.

Thanks Alot For Your Help Rik, Daveskater And Albert !

Which AfterMarket Gpu Cooler Would You Recommend For This Card As I May Look In To It, If It Still Seems Like A Problem.

I Don't Think It's An Airflow Problem, Because It Doesn't Change Temp When I Remove The Side Panel And There Isn't One Bit Of Dust. If I Did Want Better Airflow, Whats The Best Thing To Do, Is It A New Fan Front And Back, Or Just Another Fan If So Please Please Recommend

Thanks For Your Time
Tom

Also Isn't There A Programe Called Ntune Which You Can Change The RPM Of The Fan On The Gpu...

I Will Try It

That software can adjust the fan speed i believe but it often makes a lot of noise when turned right up.

An after market cooling solution would be a better idea. What kind of budget do you have?

I'd recommend this as it's made specifically for that card

The main reason I selected that one is because, apart from it's undoubtedly good performance with cooling stretched across the whole card instead of specifically the GPU, it only takes up two slots. Many other high-end aftermarket GPU coolers seem to take up at least 3. Mine takes up 4 slots!

The cooler is one of these which takes up 2 slots, then I have a fan attached to it which takes up another slot or two. Cant really reckon how many exactly because of the thickness of the fan.

Look at the pictures on this review for an idea of it's size.

I'm going to be doing a little bit of modding to my case soon and i'll post some pictures for you to see how much space it takes up

Ah so it does. That's still good considering it has 3 fans.

Well at least it doesn't take up 4!
