Exclamation Rise of an Empire Game Crash, Solutions?

Hello,

I am wondering if anyone would be able to point me in the appropriate direction, Or reside some advice.

I have recently paid for the Settlers Rise of an Empire PC Game, I have installed it and installed the Latest Patch.
Now I can play the Game, No worries. Though after about 10-20 Minutes the Computer Crashes.

It suddenly turns off without warning. Now when I try and turn the PC back on it comes on for like 1 sec and switches off again. I wait about 30 seconds and repeat that step and it loads up fine.

I only have this issue with Playing this Game no other Game, I have not had the BSOD ever and my PC runs fairly lightly.

Can anyone recommend a fIx or a reason to why it is doing this to me?

Thanks in Advance

Hello what graphics card have you got please and how much ram.

I found this from an Amazon review

Quote:
Some technical problems - needs a serious graphics card to play. My 512MB nVidia 7950GT was struggling in bits. Sreen scrolling is jerky, but that may have been also due to my 1GB RAM limitation (one of my memory sticks failed just as I was installing it). Also suffers from serious memory leakage. For the non-techno geeks out there, this means the game just continually grabs more and more of your computer memory the longer it plays. Eventually the game will crash, but you can predict the impending doom by the fact the your hard disk will start going mad about 5 mins before crash due to all memory swapping going on. I needed to restart the game about once every hour to avoid problems.
Amazon.co.uk: The Settlers: Rise Of An Empire (PC DVD): PC & Video Games

I think this is one of those games that is a real PITA

I was pretty lucky, as the game crashed only once or twice, but internet reports that certain hardware configurations cause crashes on 30 minute intervals or worse.

And while you are doing that, what about your system temps? At this time of year it is getting warmer in Oz so you need to make sure there are no dust bunnies in your system case and all the fans are running clean.

Yay, Thanks for all your awesome replies. Is it common for Laptops to over heat while sitting on a Desk?

I just found that, By moving the Laptop a few more centimeteres from the Desk resolved the issue.. I assume an Over Heating Issue.

All Games Have worked on this Laptop no worries, Just this Game over heats the Laptop. Wonders Why.

Just make sure that the cooling vents are clear of dust bunnies and the laptop is not sitting on a soft surface. Some like Acers will let you take a cover off to clear the airways as otherwise they can be tedious to get at.
