Installed new graphics card

I installed my new graphics card on Sunday and had a bit of a play with it today, and so far I haven't said on here what it is yet so here goes

It's a BFG 8800GT 512MB OC2 It's a jolly good card and I'm impressed with it so far. Sam was right that I'd like it then

Gotta dash off now, but will update specs tab thing when I'm back

You were indeed bang on mate, I had a go on Need For Speed Underground 2, which admittedly isn't new or Crysis or anything, but it's the latest game I have on my PC It ran it really well, way better than all of my old stuff of course

It did start to flicker a bit after a couple of hours which I think might be because it was getting hot, because I opened ATITool and it was fairly high, can't remember the exact number but it was probably near 70C.

My EVGA 8800 doesn't go up above 65C I do believe. Most of the time it idles around 55C or so.
I need to get NFSU2 for the computer. Then I can play Rik and he can kick my butt on drift.

My worst kind of racing on NFSU2 is drag. I could never get the hang of driving with high heels on.

Dave, how about some nice screenshots when you get a chance.

Sam, ya might want to have a look-see in your case for some dust perhaps. Clean it out, and see if maybe you can find a spare fan lying around. Keep that poor thing cool! Hope it's just dust and not some other problem come to think of it. You do have a Rosewill running it.

Actually link I just cleaned it out.
Before my case was covered in dust. All good now. But I think the 8800s are normal running at that temp. Can't help it much then what it is. I have two huge fans on the side of my case blowing in air. I might switch them around to blow the air out.
But anyway, I don't wanna hijack daves thread.

I don't like the drag either Rik, the heels don't help either

Last time I tried doing it online it wouldn't let me - I think it's my ISP - but I'll try forwarding al the ports again and give it another go

I will get some screenshots though, I might not have time until Saturday evening or maybe Sunday afternoon, but I'll get them

That's a good point, Sam, I think the 8800's do have a tendancy to run hot, I'm not really sure why. I'm going to get a Zalman cooler at some point though and see how that helps.

I'll beat you all at sprint races

Yup, I think so. Oh well its been running fine for me no bsod's or anything so as long as it doesn't do that or crash then everything is cool.

I'm assuming that nvidia would know that the chips run hot, so they should be able to make it so that it can handle higher temps.

That link doesn't seem to work Albert.

Sam, a bay cooler could well help if you have room for one. Google it.

Ahh, I think I see what you mean. If you click the link in my sig it will work, but the actual text gets you a 404. It's because of the way that vB shortens links

Evening, Albert! Except you're not here

This will fit our cards, Sam
