Google Chrome

1. supress the 'Chrome-ID'

Google Chrome saves the unique browser-ID in the file 'Local State'. this file is to be found in

Vista - "%LOCALAPPDATA%\ Google\ Chrome\ User Data"

XP - "%USERPROFILE%\ Local Settings\ Application Data\ Google\ Chrome\ User Data"

first, create a backup of this file then open in an editor (e.g. Notepad) and delete the values for the following entries:

"client_id" and "client_id_timestamp"

they should look like this now:

"client_id": "",
"client_id_timestamp": "",

save the file and right click on it, select properties and set the attributes to 'read only'.

upon the next start, Google Chrome will create a file called "Local State.tmp". repeat all of the above steps with this new file and Google Chrome will eventually give in.

2. Disable Auto Complete

right click on the 'Omnibox' (aka address bar) and select 'Edit Search Engines'

clear the box 'Use a Suggestion Service ...' and close the dialog box.

3. View Tab history

righ click on the 'Back' and 'Forward' buttons

4. Don't like the default theme?

Good Post - I have been giving this a try and will apply those. Didn't know there was an ID grabber built in - cheeky.

I think so - it is supposed to be a sort of marketing device which tracks where you have been - bit like some spyware!

Oooooh better fix that up then.I have been using the browser for about a month now and I love the speed of it and so simple to use.Thanks BM for that,I am going to install that as soon as i get home.I was just reading that and it seems the only thing you have to do for it to work is launch the browser through the icon it installs and it deletes the browsing history before launch if I read it correctly.
