How to upload the screenshot or image online?

In order to post images, you first need to have a place that will host your image online. You can sign up for a free account at ImageShack® and have plenty of free space for your images as well as an easy way to keep track of and share them. Registration to ImageShack is not required in order to upload files, but it does have many benefits. Best of all, registration is free!

How do I upload media to ImageShack?

Visit ImageShack. Select either "image", "url", or "video". If you select "url", paste in the URL of the file that you want to transload. If you select "video", you will need to install the ImageShack toolbar in order to continue. Otherwise, click browse to find the media that you want to upload, select it, press Open, and then press the "Host it!" button. After a short while (depending on your internet connection and file size), your file will upload and you will see a number of boxes with linking code for your uploaded file. Depending on your use for the image, use any one of these linking codes.

Note: The file browser window is not a connection between your computer and ImageShack, it is an entirely local device that allows you to browse for images.

For more frequently asked questions see the ImageShack® - Faq web page.

How to post the screenshot or image in the forums?

Once you have your picture hosted on the web you will need the URL of the image. The URL is given by ImageShack (see below image) in multiple formats so all you have to do is copy and paste the Hotlink for forums without having to manually add the img tags around the URL. Or you can use the Direct link to image URL and add the img tags manually.

To display the picture inside your post copy the URL, which will be available at the upload site of your image, and place it between img tags using BB Code formatting.

Example: The images on this page would look like this before clicking the reply button.

If you're starting a new topic or if you click the reply button in an existing topic you will see a row of icons. By clicking the icon highlighted below. you will automatically insert the img tags. Or you can simply type the img tags in yourself and add the URL between them.

Once clicked you will be see a Script Prompt window to insert the image URL.

Insert the image URL and click OK and the image will be added to the post.

Or you can simply type in the img tags yourself and add the URL between them.

Good one EF - pity it is copy protected as it would be have been useful to be able to copy and paste into something to print out so I could follow it through. Printing direct did not seem to work very well - got a page full of gibberish but that's not your fault!

Done!

I am also working on the last set of instructions so this guide will be updated shortly.

If anybody sees something that needs clarifying then just let me know.
