Yes it's strange. The funny thing is I uninstalled and then re-installed WMP 3 times before it actually worked. Finally when I plugged in the mp3 player I got a new device prompt. WinPatrol then popped up asking me to allow a new auto start, Application Compatability Client Library. So whatever that is must have been what was missing.
