Hi guys, having some trouble here. Basically, as the title says, my computer will only boot into the recovery console (well it just automatically loads it). I've tried a number of things all to no avail. To add further dissapointment my computer also fails to boot from CD. I'm now just thinking my hdd is knackered?
Any help is much appreciated. Cheers. |

Which OS is this? And what happens trying to boot from CD, have you verified it's selected in the boot order in BIOS?

Hi mate -it's windows 7. And yes, it's set to boot from CD within bios. Regarding what happens it just boots into recovery console, even when selected to boot from CD. I'm baffled as to where the OS has gone.

Have you tried letting the automatic repair system run mate? Try system restore in the following prompts too. This has happened to me a few times now and it's always been a corrupt bootloader/the 100mb "System Reserved" partition getting damaged somehow.
Could always try bootrec too through command prompt.

I can't because the cd refuses to load, and the computer just goes straight into the recovery console.
