Um, that wont work at all, there is no analogue audio output at a usb socket. There are 4 contacts in a usb socket and they are ground, +5 volts, data+, and data-.

Iirc BM said that she has USB headphones so as long as the wires are split on the other side of the connector then it should work, I had to cut up loads of PC wires for a thing I did in college, but no USB ones so I'm kind of guessing a bit tbh hehe.

There will most likely be some electronics within the plug itself as there is not an analogue audio output at a usb socket.
It will depend on the design of the headphones tho. If there is 4 wires running into the headphones then the electronics will be within the headphones themselves, if there is 3 wires running to the headphones then the electronics will be in the plug.

Not at all, i am pointing out that a usb headset works in a different way to an analogue headset. A usb one will work fine.

Rip the front panel out of your pc and send it it to me. I can replace the socket and send it back to you.
