Hardware=:SB Audigy4 24bit sound card, standard microphone.
Problem=:Mic volume automatically lowers itself in the volume mixer panel.
Fix required=:I want to know if there`s a way to lock the volume for the microphone, so it doesn`t automatically lower itself. I have Googled this but can`t seem to find any info.
Any suggestions would be welcome.

I don't think there is, mate. I think that it lowers itself if the sound going into it is too loud. That's the experience I've had when using a mic over MSN anyway, and that uses the same level as the Windows mic level. If it keeps peaking and going into the red bit of the volume then it turns the volume down slightly do compensate.

No problem, mate
If you move your mic a bit further away then it might not turn it down, or it'll turn it down less. Check to see is Microphone Boost is on as well, that makes a big difference. If it's on then try turning it off and see how it goes

Thanks Jase, that`d be awesome if you could find one mate.
Dave: Altering the distance to the mic, really isn`t an option mate, but thanks for the suggestion.

Ok I just thought that if you were using a headset then it could be adjusted, but never mind, eh
Does your sound card have a program with its drivers that allows you to change levels and stuff? You might be able to get that to override the Windows levels.
