Want to use your xbox controller on your pc?

Hi all, it is possible to use your old (original, NOT 360) controller on you pc with a little mod.

If you have a dead original xbox all you have to do is rip out a controller port and wire a USB cable upto it.

If anyone is interested in this mod then I can do some pictures and an explanation on how to do it and where to get the software from.

Do explain but I don't think we would appreciate the bulky Xbox controller, and the driver for it has to be rewritten, which it can takes ridiculously long time to do this.

All others than that, please do show us how to do it

There are currently 2 good, working drivers available. One allows all the buttons to work as didital ones and the other allows the 2 trigger buttons to work as analogue ones.

Have a look at this - Xbox Controller to PC USB adapter

I will be constructing one tomorrow and taking a few pictures.

Rik,
Instead of having that bulky and unsightly XBOX controller port in the middle of the modded cable why not just chop the connector off the xbox contoller and splice/solder a standard male USB-A one on the controller's cable. (Get the male USB-A connector you require by chopping one off some other USB cable you no longer need )

Each wire of the USB adapter should match up to a colored wire on the gamepad. The Xbox controller has one additional yellow wire, which you can just ignore.

make it really neat and tidy with some heat shrink wrap too

I would do that but for one thing, the xbox I got the port from is a spare. My main xbox is still working fine and i want to be able to use the controller on both the pc and the xbox.

If i was going to do as you suggest then I'd remove the controller cable all together and replace it with a moulded usb cable.

I have a xbox 360 controller and it works on my pc but not all the buttons are working. Is there some driver I can install so all the buttons work?
