There are plenty of these cases (SHAW) at the computer store i go to to get my parts (msy) they are dirt cheap ($45 for some of them) apparently some of them look alright (cant find ANY pics over the net), and i wouldn't mind starting modding cases and whatnot and i figured these are cheap enough to start with. However are they any good, I know these things are total rubbish flimsy things but what do people think? good place to start?
cheers

If you intend to mod, then pretty much any case is a good place to start really. The only limit is your imagination.
What sort of mods are you planning on?

Can you perhaps take a digital camera along to the shop?
[Edit] i just found this - http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum...fm/459616.html
They seem to have a very low opinion of SHAW cases.

Sure do, well they certainly aren't the best cases but because they are SO cheap might be ok for modding, i don't really want to accidentally destroy a $100 odd dollar case, ill certainly take a look at them anyway, see just how flimsy they are...

From what they said about the threads stripping, you may want to also get some nuts and bolts.
Do you perhaps have a local newspaper that has free ads that may be worth scouring for old pc cases going cheap?

That's a good point. Hadn't thought of that, But there's absolutely nothing, only old Dells and HPs that people are trying to sell for the price of a new built computer Might take a look at some garage sales, but other than that there really is not anywhere that i can think of that has cases cheap enough to muck around with |

You could keep an eye out for local businesses that are upgrading their systems, they often throw all sorts of plain cases out. I got a few that way.
