I bought a Keyboard+mouse set for my first build in November last year. There were lots of things wrong with it, one of them was that the receiver had the signal but they weren't doing anything on the PC. I bought a new set and it is doing the same thing. It is completely random and like I say the receiver has the signal but the mouse+keyboard won't interact with the computer. Help would be appreciated, thanks.

I take it, it works ok sporadically?
Could anything be interfering with the wireless signal, such as mobile phone etc?
Did you need to install any drivers?

It is sporadic. There is no wireless signal apart from the internet, and I am fairly sure that does not do anything as nothing happens on my other computer which is using the same connection. On both occasions drivers were installed.

Ok, go to add remove programmes and uninstall any drivers for your wireless keyboard etc. Reboot your computer and see if there`s any improvement.
I have a wireless mouse and find that the generic Windows mouse drivers are all I need.

I did it, I'll see how it goes. It is now crashing a few times a day so it shouldn't take long to find out if it works.

Try to relocate the receiver, maybe away from the comptuer and monitor...
have you thought about put it on under the desk, or other side of your desk?

I would not rule out interference as a cause if the problem is intermittent. First you need to determine what frequency range the devices use? Some devices operate in the 27mhz range while others use the 2.4ghz range. Obviously the possible sources of interfence are dependent on the frequency used. I also often see similar symptoms with marginal batteries.

You're usually supposed to put thing like receivers 20cm away from electrical stuff, to rule out interference I'm guessing, but my keyboard and mouse receivers are both between my monitor and a speaker and work fine usually. Try moving the receivers closer to the devices, to get a stronger signal, and maybe change the batteries if you haven't done so in a while.
