Exclamation [SOLVED] HP F2280 printer Installation Problem

Hi...

"You can only install one device at a time. Another device installation is underway, when it is finished you can try this wizard again"

This is the message that I get when starting Add Hardware Wizard. Actually, I tried install my new printer, but installation doesn't start. Then I decided to try with Wizard but.. I spend hours trying to solve this but nothing helps

I found "solution" on the Internet: find and delete "FactoryPreInstallInProgress"=dword:00000001 in registry and reboot system, and I did that too but problem is still here...

By the way, other devices work fine, everything is OK with them.

Thank you

I found this

This issue may occur if there is some hardware installed incorrect. It may
be related to printer, please first try the instructions in the following
article:
"The New Hardware Wizard May Detect the Printer Device After Every
Restart of the Computer"
The New Hardware Wizard may detect the printer device after every restart of the computer

If the issue persists, continue with the following steps:
1. Check in the Device Manager to see if there are any problems.
2. Disable all the startup items:

a. Click Start -> Run, then type "msconfig" in the input box and press
Enter.
b. Click Selective startup, and then clear the check box next to "Load
startup items".
c. Click Service tab, click Hide All Microsoft Services to hide them, and
Disable All.
d. Click Apply and OK, then restart the computer.

3. Remove all the hardware and install them one by one.

It is said in article that I need to delete LPTENUM key, but when I click on delete it says: "Unable to delete all specified values" and I cannot delete anything in LPTENUM.

All that will happen by deleting that key is Windows will recreate it at the next restart.

I spent 5 hours trying to install a HP printer for my parents. You should try their tech support. If you have the choice I would suggest taking it back and buying another brand of printer. Anything but HP.

My idea was to buy some other brand but it is a problem with printer cartridge here. HP's cartridges are easy to find and replace, other cartridges are much more expensive and there are no suppliers.

Here are my processes. I've done system restore... it wasn't helpful

I've always had great luck? with HP printers.
Here is a good HP site for info on setup and other things.
Setup and install HP F2280 All-in-one printers
I have found some things have to be done in just the right order.
Good luck.

I installed the printer, finally!!!

None of HP supports suggestions didn't work, unfortunately, but I made up something ant it works!

I plugged in the printer then opened Device Manager and found it. I inserted CD and did right click on every printer component which was signed as not working properly. I reinstalled or updated drivers for each component, respectively and tried print and scan. Now, everything seems to be fine and I hope it will stay fine because I am so tired.

I also hope that my experience will help someone.

P.S. Add Hardware Wizard is still not working, but there is a way for computer to recognize and install new hardware until I decide and find some time to reinstall system.

Thank you

Good job. I still say HP is a great product and installs/works majority of time.
With HP printers the only ones that did not install/work right were bad right out of the new box.

Your location, Bosnia and Herzegovina, sure brings my memories back to when my
USA news shows said those names hundreds of times a day for a long time.
I hope everything is going good for you there.

My Bosnia and Herzegovina...

The war is finished 14 years ago, but it still hurts. There are those who go forward, but there are also those who pull us back (in economy, education etc.) but I believe that everything is going to be OK, because it has to be OK .

Mesa Selimovic said in his novel Death and the Dervish (my favourite book!):

"But we (Bosnia) belong to no one, we're always on some frontier, always someone's dowry. Is it then surprising that we're poor? For centuries we've been trying to find, trying to recognize ourselves. Soon we won't even know who we are, we're already forgetting that we've even been striving for anything. Other do us the honor of letting us march under their banners, since we have none of our own. They entice us when they need us, and reject us when we're no longer any use to them. The saddest land in the world, tho most unhappy people in the world. We're losing our identity but we cannot assume another, foreign one. We've been severed from our roots, but haven't become a part of anything else; foreign to everyone, both to those who are our kin and those who won't take us in and adopt us as their own. We live at a crossroads of worlds, at a border between peoples, in everyone's way. And someone always thinks we're to blame for something. The waves of history crash against us, as against a reef. We're fed up with those in power and we've made a virtue out of distress: we become noble-minded out of spite."

It's sad but it's true.

If you don't mind, I will sign this thread as solved.

The Dayton Accords couldn't have come soon enough.
The United States has donated, and continues to donate, hundreds of millions of
dollars to help with infrastructure, humanitarian aid, economic development, and
military reconstruction in Herzegovina and Bosnia.
I hope it has and continues to help.
Good luck.
