I'm stuck between the top macbook 2.4GHz Apple (United Kingdom) - MacBook
and
The baseline macbook pro 2.4Ghz Apple (United Kingdom) - MacBook Pro
Both 2GB DDR3 ram
Only difference is pro is 15" not 13" and had Hybrid SLI graphics so as well as the on board graphics the macbook has it has a dedicated card for if you need a bit of extra power.
Only £200 difference with educational discount... which isnt an issue. But will 13" be too small?

Depends really mate. If you've been sitting in front of a large screen for a while, the 13" may feel a little too small, but thats just my opinion.
If I wasn't so restricted for space I would get the 15" no hesitation, but it looks like i'll be getting the 13" (when I can afford )

And how much are these things going to cost you??
BTW, I have a Powerbook 190CS that works and is in good condition - is it worth anything to anyone to you think. Don't want to hijack the thread!

Yeah I spend all day in front of the 26". But TBH its just for in bed, and college. If I got for macbook its gonna have to be the top on which is £949 as I need the back lit keyboard. And I think it's £1299 for the pro with 15" screen. But I get 10% student discount.
Yeah check out mac-forums.com people buy stuff like that from there all the time, its a great place to pick up cheap mac stuff. I'd ask there bout this but there all bitching that the macbook isnt white any more... miserable people haha

Yeah you could, but the guy loves his Macs
I don't blame you though Eddie, they're the best looking laptops out there by far IMO

I dunno about the looks - I have just treated myself to a Samsung R700 Samsung R700-AS07, Core 2 Duo T5750 2.0GHz, 3GB (1x1GB+1x2GB) RAM, 320GB HDD, 17" WXGA, DVD Supermulti, Bluetooth, Webcam, Vista Home Premium - Ebuyer which I think is pretty smart - not sure about the piano black as it shows every finger mark!

Just looked up some larger pictures, looks like a nice laptop Nice large screen too
Yeah, there is that problem with finger marks
I don't think any amount of persuasion will bring Eddie away from the Macs , lets just see what he has to say

Yeah, theres enough room for the numeric keypad due to the size of the display. No numeric keypad puts many people off. Because of the size of the laptop, it would look a little silly without it IMO
My mates Dell Vostro is similar to your laptop and I thought that was excellent.

My only whinge about it is more my fault - because the lappy is so big I had to have another carry case - this means I can carry more junk around (cables, CDs, screwdrivers etc etc) so now this thing is too heavy!

I can't stand big laptops. My last was a Dell Inspireon 17" super high spec. But was too big and heavy + I could never go back to windows now. It performs not even close to the speed of a mac, and some of the technology in these macbooks is stuff windows can only dream off
Narr it's about the same as a good desktop... I just need the compact design. I think im going to the apple shop this friday so I'll have to check them out then.
