This is strange
I have found my aging heap on tinternet

UKT Support - Advent 3212 PC

Looking at the specs

Front ports

Ports - Front 1x IEEE 1394 (FireWire)
2x USB
1x Headphone
1x Microphone

i have only 4 wheres my firewire port ???

I was looking for some information on the front usb panel
Connected to my headset problem

Wondered how easy they were to get and fit myself

Not sure what you mean. Your machine has a front panel with 2 USB ports, a mic port, a headphone socket and a firewire socket. It is probably one piece and not replaceable as such. If you need more USB ports your best bet might be a USB Hub on the top of the machine - if you do this make sure you have a mains powered hub.

More thinks on this:
If your headset does not work on the front but it does on the back, then I would suspect the wiring, the socket or the pinning on the motherboard. Some will allow front or back, but not both.

Its a metal panel and has 2 wires attached to it

I have the case off and have had problems booting the b lasted heap today

Im wondering as memtest was okay whether this is a heat issue

My cpu fan is a bit mucky lol

That heatsink needs a damn good clean i would say.

Motherboard 54 °C (129 °F) is a bit on the high side and i suspect its actually the cpu temperature. You should only see a temperature like that under heavy cpu load.

Give it a good suck with the Dyson, Donna, but be careful not to overspin the fan! Use a clean paintbrush to get into all those intimate little corners.
