Remember that manufacturer's change the specification of their products throughout the life of a model range.

Were you on a nostalgia trip or was there a reason for looking it up?

Not sure what you mean. Your machine has a front panel with 2 USB ports, a mic port, a headphone socket and a firewire socket. It is probably one piece and not replaceable as such. If you need more USB ports your best bet might be a USB Hub on the top of the machine - if you do this make sure you have a mains powered hub.
More thinks on this:
If your headset does not work on the front but it does on the back, then I would suspect the wiring, the socket or the pinning on the motherboard. Some will allow front or back, but not both.

I think a picture would be a really good idea! I would have expected a few more than 2 wires!

That heatsink needs a damn good clean i would say.
Motherboard 54 °C (129 °F) is a bit on the high side and i suspect its actually the cpu temperature. You should only see a temperature like that under heavy cpu load.

Give it a good suck with the Dyson, Donna, but be careful not to overspin the fan! Use a clean paintbrush to get into all those intimate little corners.

The cheap ones with the stiffer bristles seem to work better don't they Albert.
