Hi all. I intend to create the definitive guide to pc wiring.
I have collected quite a bit of data already but was wondering if anyone has any useful information, pictures, or diagrams?
I am bound to have forgotten something.
It will be a complete wiring guide aimed at the beginner who wants to build a pc right through to the moder who wants to do something cool.
Basically, i want to put lots of useful information into one place.

Good idea Rik - don't forget to tell them about the dangers of using rubber bands!

I haven't even posted in here yet Well, I have now obviously
The first things that come to mind for me are connecting wires like IDE, SATA etc, and then power connectors like molex and SATA. You could also to things like the USB and front panel headers on motherboards.
Any other ideas I'll let you know

Most motherboards will only supply a connection to either the front panel or the back - some use jumpers to change the setting for the front (default is the back) and others don't. There seems no pattern to it,
I always leave things as they are and tie back the front panel connections to show that they are not in use and have maybe fallen off. Should tie them back in any case, but some machines I get in here had not seen a cable tie at all and the wires are all over the place.

I can't get my front audio to work The motherboard manual tells me where to put the wires, but I have 3 left over so they're just hanging there.

Cheers mate Not feeling in the most "taking PC apart to look at what the wires say" mood tonight from not feeling well but hopefully tomorrow will be a better day and I'll get it sorted for you as soon as I can
