Hi,
My PSU appears to be shutting down a few seconds after my PC-It's a trust PW-5150-Does this indicate a developing problem?

Hi,
What do you mean shutting down after your PC?
Does it shut off your computer?

Please could you tell me what HSF is?

It sounds more likely to be a mobo fault. Have a close look at all the capacitors on the mobo to see if any are domed, split, lifted away from the board, or leaky.

There doesn't seem to be any. It's a pretty new mobo so I don't think it would have 'broken' by now. I do, however, have a pretty cheap PSU which I might be changing at some point in the future.

Has your psu always done this, or is it a recent thing?
If it`s recent, then I suspect it`s time to change it before it fails altogether.
Some psu`s do this by design, but obviously, if it`s by design, then it should always have done it from the beginning.
Regards Howard

It started doing it shortly after I added a 160gb hard drive and another gig of ram.

Well an upgrade like that will draw more power for sure.
Have you cleaned the dust bunnies from your psu recently?

scroll down to mirror sites and i would download and iso on the write it to a cd or dvd. then run that when your computer just starts up before windows does and then select mainboard diagnostics.
Have up looked to see if there is an update for your motherboard

It could be that your components are overpowering the power supply. It is common that a power supply fails due to the components being too powerful for it. I reccomend purchasing a higher wattage power supply and this should solve your problems. Looking at your system spec from your profile I would reccomend a 600w PSU to be on the safe side and also allow you to do further upgrades without the hassle of your power supply not being powerful enough. Also try going for the good branded PSU's as the generic ones are not as efficient and will more than likely fail within a set period of time. A lot of people forget about how much energy their computers consume and your PSU is the barebones to your computer functioning at all.
Hope this helps!

This PSU is temperature controlled and will tend to behave just like a laptop cooling system - which often means that you will get 'running on' when powering off. I would not worry about it other than download everest from www.majorgeeks.com and check your temps.

For some reason I am unable to check any temps other that my system's (30*c) and my cpu's (35-45*c) I cannot get any fan speed info either.
