i have 2 PC's & 1 Laptop. we'll call them PC, BC & LT
the problem is with LT.
PC is connected wirelessly. BC is wired to the router. LT is wireless with Atheros AR5004G built in.
i downloaded this PC Pitstop Exterminate on the LT. ran the scan and uninstalled it because it didn't remove the spyware.
after that the LT started acting up. i couldn't search for the word spyware, couldn't click the category 'anti-virus & spyware downloads' @ download.com & couldn't do anything with the word spyware, couldn't even install anti-spyware programs downloaded from the other 2 PC's. Everytime I tried, the browsers [IE, CrazyBrowser & Firefox] would close by themselves. Tried to run scans, but the scanners would close automatically also.
so we thought to do a factory restart restoring it from out of box state. finished that. now it doesn't want to connect to the internet. checked PC & BC to see if they were still able to connect. internet shows up fine except for LT. when LT is connected with the Ethernet cable, Internet is fine; webpages show up. but once disconnected, and using the wifi, internet doesn't show up.
The wifi is ON and I have set the settings on it. WiFi does read the router and says it's Excellent with all the bars lit green. but internet still doesn't show up.
It has worked just a couple of hours ago just before installing that program from PC Pitstop. so we did the fatcory restart again thinking we might have missed something, but still Nothing.
I tried using the disc again to install drivers for the Atheros AR5004G.
also tried downloading a driver for it from the internet using the other PC's. That didn't work either.
even though the signal is excellent, i can't even access the router from the LT. accessing router from the 2 PC's is good.
so any help would be greatly appreciated!

First of all, go to Start > Control Panel > Classic view (if you don't already have it on classic view) > Add/Remove Programs and uninstall anything to do with PC Pitstop, if there is anything.
Next open My Computer and go to C:\Program Files\ and check to see if there are any folders called PC Pitstop. If there are any, delete them, but do not empty the Recycle Bin yet.
IF you need to use another computer to download these programs, then please do so.
Now I would like you to run CCleaner (if you can install it). Once the program has loaded, click the Analyze button. Once the scan has finished, click Run Cleaner.
Now click on the Registry button on the left hand side and click Scan for Issues. Once the scan has finished, click Fix selected issues. Repeat this step again to make sure that all entries have been fixed. Once that is finished, you can close CCleaner.
Now I would like you to download HijackThis and install it to its default directory (if it will allow you to. If you cannot install it, then don't worry). Once the install has finished, go to the folder that HijackThis installed to, this should be C:\Program Files\Trend Micro, and rename the executable file to " Crusty". If you have file extensions showing, then change only the "Hijackthis" part and not the ".exe" part of the file name, otherwise the program will not run.
After you have done this, open the program and click Run a scan and save a log file. When the scan has finished, it will bring up a Notepad window with the log in it. You need to attach this log to a new reply in this thread, by following the steps here if you haven't done so before. With this log file I can check to see if anything is running on your computer that shouldn't be.

This sounds like a wireless connection setup problem. (if you reimaged to factory config, spyware issue is very unlikely). Are you running a secured or an unsecured wireless network? To get an idea what is going on try this after connecting to the wireless lan:
click start, then click run, type cmd <enter> to bring up command window. Now type ipconfig /all <enter> to show your ip parameters. Right click then select mark. Highlight the results of the command and hit enter to copy to the clipboard.
Paste these results into a post so we can have a look, if you can do the same with the working wireless connection all the better just be sure to show which is which.

I'm pretty sure your HJT log is clean, which is good. I just wanted to see it to check that there as nothing bad there that could be blocking the wireless processes. You can now uninstall HijackThis if you wish.
If you decide to leave it on your PC, do not use it like a normal anti-spyware program. Fixing all the entries can damage your PC and you should only receive instructions on which items to fix from people trained in reading the logs.
Continue with wektech's suggestions, now that we have confirmed that there isn't a problem with another process running on your computer.

I would like to Thank Everyone for trying to help out.
I really do appreciate it.
Unfortunately, the LT won't turn on anymore with the Power Cable.
before unplugging from the outlet, the LT was off and the light indicator saying that it has power, was on.
after unplugging it, waiting a few hours & plugging it back in, the power indicator would not turn on, so the LT wouldn't turn on. used the battery pack, but the battery only turned it on & then died after it started up. then tried to use different outlets, still wouldn't turn on.
Thank You Again
Sehana

That sounds like you have a fault with the power supply, if I'm right in thinking the problem is in the box half way through the power lead, you should be able to get one of them fairly easily from the manufacturer. If you still have warranty then they will give you one.

Sorry, I'm a bit confused.
If there is still warranty on the computer, then the manufacturer should give you a new power cable.
If the warranty has ran out already, then you can probably buy one from them, or possibly cheaper from a third party retailer.
