When I am on DSL I can go anywhere. When I switch my connection over to the satellite I can no longer get to AbsolutePoker or UltimateBet. I switch back to DSL and all is well again. What in the world could be doing that? I do not have a router, I physically switch between modems (and LAN setting) to change my connection. How does one go about fixing something like this? I used Ping Plotter and it says can't connect and if I ping it I get packets lost (only on satellite, and remember everything else is running fine at the same time - 2 other poker sites and 5 web pages).
Yours truly,
Just Totally Lost

Maybe the ISP has blocked them.

Try using a different DNS server. See HERE for details.
If that helps, then it's a DNS issue, with your ISP. You should then contact them and tell them what's happening.

Howard -- I went there and looked -- didn't understand any of it of couse. However, I'm willing to blindly do it because you said to do it. I need to point out that when I switch to satellite I go to the control panel and in the internet settings I set 'use proxy server'. Will these 2 things work together? I won't proceed until I hear back from you.

All you're doing is changing DNS servers to see if your ISP has a DNS issue with those sites you can't get to. It's perfectly safe and straight forward. You only have to do the steps on the page I linked to, no need to go any further.
Just try it and let us know what the results are.

Well today I had the time to try the change. Didn't even get started good. In step 3 for Network Connections I get 3 listed -- the one I think I'm using is Broadband. When I do a right click and look at properites I don't get the picture they show. I tried to imbed the screen image of what I see but evidently you can't get there from here (maybe because it is a .bmp file?). Anyway what I see is Broadband on top and it says disconnected, then below a big line labeled LAN or HIGH-Speed Internet, I see a 1394 connection that says it is connected and a Local Area Connection that says it is connected. So what am I really using and what do I need to change?

Local Area Connection is the one you should go with and change the DNS servers on. Then see what happens and let us know.
Simply right click Local Area Connection and select properties, then select Internet Protocol(TCP/IP) and click the properties button. Make sure you don't untick Internet Protocol(TCP/IP).
Now the page that come up is where you change DNS servers.
Click in the box that says "Use The Following DNS Server Address" and enter 208.67.222.222 into the spaces provided. Click OK/OK and close net the network connections window.

I did that and it didn't help. However, at some point my symptoms changed. They no longer tell me I can't connect to their servers. Now it says that I can't play on their site because I am in Kentucky. Well, I'm not in Kentucky but the Hughes Net satellite evidently routes me through Kentucy (according to speed test). DSL on the other hand routes me through Missouri so that (I guess) is why it works on DSL and not on satellite.
I sent them a screenshot of the 'whatismyip' and the failure combined. Their answer was something on the order of 'we'll get back to you'. So unless I can get routed through a different server I guess I'm stopped. Unless of course you can tell me how to change the routing so it appears to be someplace else.
