| Reinstalled XP but agrmdwxp.cat missing. No network or WiFi
Greetings O gods of this technological corner of the universe (well perhaps a spot of initial flattery will help...? :-) ),
OS= Win XP
Laptop = HP Elitebook 6930 (used to have Vista but removed and replaced with XP and worked fine for the past year)
I was online and left the laptop on while I nipped out for a while. Battery went flat by the time I got back in so I plugged into the mains, gave it a while but it still wouldn't boot up and gave an error message (can't remember wording). To cut a story shorter, I elected to reinstall XP from the disk and was successful, partially. About midway through the install, i got a message saying that agrmdwxp.cat is missing and that it might cause some probs. I retried several times but it wouldn't find it so I proceeded anyway. XP now installed but.....
Device manager indicates 1394 adapter is ok but "Yellow Questionmark" against "Other devices"
Ethernet controller
Fingerprint Sensor
Network Controller
PCI Device
2 x "unknown devices"
2 x "video controllers"
I get no internet when connected by ethernet cable to router, and no wifi.
When I use the wizard to create a new network connection or join existing one, it takes me through the stages but nothing seems to result. Network Connections shows only a 1394 Netadapter Connected and Firewalled but nothing else.
I have other PC and laptop and both work fine so the router is OK. So the Q is: Can anyone help me to get this laptop to work on the internet via wifi again please.
Thanks in anticipation,
