Hi guys,
Im having an issue with windows media player, its not letting me burn music on to a disc. I create a burn list insert a blank disc and it wont let me do anything it just has a message up the top saying 'connect cd burner' or something like that it wont recognise the disc, however it still lets me play cd's and dvd's.
This might be a simple problem but I have never come across this before can anyone here help out or recommend me better media player?

Have you ever been able to burn cds ?
try this
RUN
type in Services.msc
Double click IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service> Turn it on
or try this
start - control panel - system
click hardware tab,
open device manager,
expand cd/dvd drives.
Right click on your recorder drive and click uninstall.
( you drive will be uninstalled and will no longer be on the list )
click on action on the top tool bar
click on scan for hardware changes
your drive will be re-installed.
now open win media and click on burn.

If it still doesn't work after updating back to 11, then try uninstalling the drive in the Device Manager and then installing it again.
To get to Device Manager, right click My Computer (assuming XP), click Properties, click on the Hardware tab and then click the button that says Device Manager. Your CD drive will be under "DVD/CD ROM drives". Right click it and click Uninstall, then once it has finished, click the button at the top of the screen which looks like a computer with a magnifying glass over it, which is "Scan for hardware changes", it will then find your drive again and install it.
