I'm getting very frustrated, but I'm curious. What causes like for an example, news videos when I try to watch them online to stop in the middle of watching the small clip?
This doesn't always happen with just news videos, it happens with any kind of video being played over the internet.
Is there something that I can try to do to prevent this from happening? It's very annoying!
If anyone knows any tricks or tips on this issue, please let me know. I would highly appreciate it!
PS: Wasn't really sure where to put this, and thought this was the best place to put it? Anyway if it's in the wrong area of the board, by all means move it to the correct place.

If it just stops and then carries on after a minute then it's buffering, as Oldie said, if it stops completely with no hope of continuing then that is another matter.
I have also moved the thread to Web & Email, because it's only concerning online videos.

Multimedia would be the best forum for this problem i expect.
There are quite a few factors that will effect a problem like this, the first being the type and speed of the Internet connection.
As an example, I used to have a 512k dial-up connection, video streaming was almost impossible, it would take me half an hour to watch a 3 minute video bit by bit.

Oldie - if you let the clip complete the download and then restart, do you get the same problem? In theory, if you have downloaded the whole thing then it will run from your own PC and not from the 'net. Does that make any sense?

Any idea what speed it is meant to be and what speed you are actually getting?

Think an uninstall and reinstall of both flash and shockwave players might help CJ Adobe - Web Players

Sorry Oldie but capturing youtube video's is against youtube's terms and conditions and is also probably illegal.
Please do not suggest that anyone do this again.

Therefore Google should be wrapping the knuckles of the software writers / vendors of these various programmes. NOT, the more often than not innocent, end users.
Major Geeks and Able to know have had ongoing discussions on this very subject. Every time, the conclusion is the same. If it is illegal, then it can ONLY be a civil offence, and NOT a criminal offence. Until a test case is brought against an individual for breach of, then it will remain a grey area. Also very unlikely the might of Google will ever lower itself to that level.
Oldie
