BBC iPlayer

Hi all, I used the BBC iPlayer for the first time last-night and found it to be pretty good.
I was able to watch several programs in good quality without problems including TopGear.

It was far far better and much easier to use than 4od ever was and I highly recommend it.

I am the same BM, it is rare indeed for me to watch tv as there is so little that I want to watch on the thing. Having said that, I am a big TopGear fan and also quite like Never Mind the Buzzcocks.

The only reason I have a tv is so that I can occasionally play on my Xbox (the old one, not the 360).

I managed to access it only once, since then I get the message you can only view in the UK, I seem to have emigrated without knowing!

I've also become a Dr Who fan thanx to iplayer.

If only channel 5 could sort their online system out, at the mo its like watching a load of stills with a sturrering sound track. Not good at all.

I agree BBCiPlayer is the best OnDemend player as they provide subtitles for them

SHAME to other Demend player

ITV
Channel 4

Haven't check five demend player as they are released recently. They will be inverting with subtitles in future. Here's i received a email from Channel 4

Quote:
Thank you for your email regarding 4oD.

We are sorry that we are not able to supply subtitles on our 4oD service at
the moment. Whilst there is no statutory requirement for the provision of
subtitles on the web, we are committed to providing subtitling on these new
services in the future. We are actively looking at cost effective solutions
with other broadcasters. However, the timescales have yet to be defined as
the technology is not as straight forward as it would appear.

Subtitle files created for television broadcasts use a different technology
to the web and each media player application has a different specification.
There are many technological complexities to the provision of video on
demand and the provision of subtitles is one among many challenges we are
working on.

If you require further information, feel free to email me back or visit
