As i have been able to get the mic working, I find the speakers on my new lcd are sounding a litttle high pitched.I would like to know how I can unhighlight these tabs so I can adjust the bass and treble. As you can see they seem to be locked somehow. |

Hi Wayne - this thing is really putting you through the hoops!
If the option is greyed out then the software does not have a mixer function.
You could try googling for a downloadable mixer perhaps?

You have biult in sound right? If so, go to your mobo manufacturers website and see if there is an updated driver there.

Ok will try that thanks Rik.I did a search at Asus for my mobo and look at these results,I am not sure what I have and exactly what I need.Surely out of 34 file updates I must need a couple of them as to which ones I havent got a clue? And if I am going to update my mobo is that a bios update?
34 files found
BIOS (11) [BIOS History]
BIOS-Utilities (2)
AUDIO (1)
VGA (1)
LAN (1)
RAID (4)
Utilities (7)
Manual (7)

Get the audio one. Uninstall your current audio driver in device manager then install the one from the asus website and see if it makes any difference.

You could try Audacity Audio Editor - Uberdownloads.com - make sure your security is set to detect a gnats f art at 200 meters as I cannot be sure about the site!

This is the actual site for Audacity
It's good stuff, but not a mixer for outputted sound, it will just let you edit recordings etc. Audacity: Free Audio Editor and Recorder

No worries mate
In all the time I had XP, I don't think I could ever change the bass/treble settings.
However, you say that the speakers are a bit high pitched, and you have the microphone settings up in that picture. If music sounds normal but the mic sounds wrong, then it is definitely a mic problem, other wise try opening the same options but for the speakers.
If you have the right set of audio drivers installed, you may have an icon in the system tray for your sound. Double click on that and see if it has any settings for the stuff you want to change. Quite often these days they have loads of options for equalisers and all sorts.
