Does nothing show up in Windows Explorer when you explore the DVD?
Is the DVD disc free from defects?

Invest in a cd/dvd laser lens cleaner. It may cure your problem and is a handy thing to have around.

Time for a new, all singing all dancing, DVD drive on your PC I reckon, they are cheap as chips these days and take but a moment to fit. No technical skill needed, you can use a screwdriver cant you?

Donna - couple of things:

your icon seems to have fallen over

you are talking to your PC again - not a good sign.

Albert

I read somewhere you have an external hard drive that you keep your mp3 files on, why didn't you simply transfer the mp3 files from the DVD to that?
That way it saves you having to transfer them from your PC to the external drive later (back them up to ), and I suspect your son's PC is USB2.0 and yours as it is a few years old only has USB1.1, therefore the transfer to the external drive would be quicker using his PC.
Just a thought
