I use Foobar2000 for music and VLC player for videos.
I like Foobar2000 for music for several reasons.
Easy make good playlists, I have each band separated on different tabs.
Another thing is it has a good playback, its small! and wont eat up your resources foobar2000 |

I agree, Foobar2000 is a great music player. It`s also able to convert music files to several different formats etc.
I highly recommend it.

I think I will go for Winamp. Simple, easy and convenient.
And yes, VLC Player can make / play playlists. Here is how to do it.
1. Open VLC Media Player.
2. Click on View tab in the standard toolbar and select Playlist....
3. In the following Window, click on Manage and add the contents of the playlist as per your wish.
4. After you are done, click on the Manage button again and select the Save Playlist... option. Note: The Playlist Manager will give you an error if you try to save an empty playlist file so verify your contents of the Playlist before saving.
5. Browse to a desired location and give your playlist an acceptable name. Click on the Save button.
This should hopefully make your playlist and save it too. The function is much more simple with Winamp though.
Hope this helps.

I used WinAmp for a few years. The last few updates and it just kept getting worse instead of better, locking up and crashing.
MediaMonkey actually does some of the extra stuff that WMP and others claim to do. Most noteably it quickly Auto Tags songs/albums from the web, cool skins, Create playlists and Auto-DJ, auto sync for MP3 or phone...and on and on....

Have you tried the newer versions Kevin? The latest version is 5.54 and believe me, there have been no lockups or crashes since I have installed it. It is much more stable and does contain the features you mention. I don't know what your system specifications are but I think they will surely be better than mine. It should run more smoothly for you.

I might try it again. I go through a media player phase about every 6 months or so and end up installing and uninstalling nearly a dozen or so The last few times I have always gone back to Media Monkey. I think I've tried them all |

Did you try Songbird?
I tried it about a year or so ago; it seemed quite impressive. And anything powered by Mozilla is worth a look methinks. Songbird Media Player |

Songbird was pretty buggy the last time I tried it. They sort of stopped improving/updating it which is a shame, it has a huge amount of potential!

the best player i have seen is VLC media player, but its appearance and skin isnt good. however the player that might suite you is the latest version of realplayer or the latest version of winamp. preferbly i would choose realplayer because that is similar to wmp and doesnt crash.
