I have been looking at laptops and have seen a HP Compaq 6720s. Is this any good? I would do the occasional game (Splinter Cell 3 most challenging for it) but mainly internet and work. Is this any good?

Surely someone must know?

Ok. I did a bit of research and I've found that it is a pretty good laptop. It didn't say about gaming though, so thanks for the reply

D'you know - I posted a note about this extolling the virtues of Acer machines but it ain't here. Weird.
anyway - I rate Acer laptops over the rest - if there is a competitive product I would have it without question.

Only problem I've seen with an Acer is my mate's laptop - it decided to kill itself yesterday.

He was using it (in his words) "for two minutes" then it started making noises like it was reading a cd, then started humming. He shut it down and started it up again a couple of minutes later, and it comes up with message saying that just about every port doesn't work and that it can't find an operating system. Other than that, the only problems I've had with it are that it refuses to install AVG Free and Avast just plain won't work. At all. So I had to put a trial of Kaspersky on.

From what I've heard, HP laptops are good, though What're the specs of this one?

That doesn't look too bad, mate. Get at least 1GB of RAM if you can though, it'll be well worth it.

I'm not sure what the graphics chipset is like but it's Intel so it'll probably be fairly basic. Actually, if the graphics is going to use shared system memory, it would be best to get the 2GB RAM set if you can afford it.

Don't know yet, I'll probably save up for the best cpu. I want this thing to stay in date for a while.

EDIT:I've decided to get the worst cpu and 1 gig and slap a better cpu and an extra gig in when I have the money.
