Dell Inspiron 1150

I have just acquired one of these from a defaulter: It passes all its tests but I need to reinstall back to ex factory status. I thought there was some sort of recovery partition on these things - any idea how to get to it (if it exists)?
I have no CDs - just the machine and PSU

I don't think there is one albert. I have had two dells and the one came with cds the other one had nothing. And no recovery partition that I know of.

I just looked on Dell and there is no inspiron 1150 that I can find.

They should have it by F10 - F12.

If not, I guess you have to go on hard way.

@Sam - maybe it was a UK model only - this is the thing: Dell Inspiron 1150 2.6Ghz : Read reviews and compare prices at Ciao.co.uk

@BW - there is no restore option on F12 - have not given the other F keys a battering but will do that before doing it the hard way!

thank you both for the input
cheers

Ya I guess so. Cuse I couldn't find it on dell.com.

oh haha. Its a laptop. so I guess I wouldn't be able to find it in the desktop part.

Here is the service manual for it.

Documentation

I didn't see anything in there indicating that it had a recovery partition on it.

No worries Sam - I could not find it on the Dell site either - seems it is a discontinued model...
Now to get on with it! Will try a repair first and see what happens....

I booted the thing from an XP install CD and there were a couple of partitions there that looked if they needed special access tools to get at them. So I wiped them - not having secret bits on my machine!
