How to get WinXP to forget multiple monitors

Recently on my laptop, I have noticed that after Windows XP loads, the screen flashes black just once and then returns. I have found this out as to be from when I had a monitor plugged into my laptop.

I have in my Display settings disabled the second monitor from the Settings tab; however, I would like to get rid of the black flash.

Any help is appreciated
