extreme slowness to load the LAN icon near the system watch

Hello!

Windows XP 32 Bit SP3

We just installed the OS and windows, but when I boot Windows loads all the icons in the system tray, but to load the LAN icon (the two monitors) windows needs at least 60-70 seconds!

how could I do?

Thank you.

Defragment your hard drive. You have put a lot of data on it and it is all over the place, causing loading times to increase.

It just sounds like the drivers are taking a bit longer to load to me.

Does your internet connection work before the icon shows up? To test this, start the computer and before the icons show, try to open your web browser or email client. If it works fine as normal then there is nothing to worry about.

Problem partially solved

It's all OK: I uninstalled the 700 MB (!!!!!!) "driver" (Yes, just driver...) of the HP LAN multifunction printer/fax, and the problem disappeared!

Anywat, thank you for your useful and interesting answers! I'll treasure your advices when I'll need to use the LAN capabilities of the printer.

Bye!
