You can get rid of all the tools etc you downloaded during the cleanup.

This may be a dumb question, but what's the best way to do this? Just go to add/remove and uninstall programs? Will this completely uninstall and remove them from the PC? Sorry if this is an annoying questiono. |

Do this instead.
Download OTMoveIt2 by OldTimer OTMoveIt2.exe and place it on your desktop. (unless you already have it)
1. Double click OTMoveIt2.exe to launch it. Vista users right click and choose Run As Administrator
2. Click on the CleanUp! button.
3. OTMoveIt2 will download a list from the Internet, if your firewall or other defensive programs alerts you, allow it access.
4. Click YES at the next prompt (list downloaded, Do you want to begin cleanup process?) When finished exit out of OTMoveIt2

Did that and it doesn't seem to have removed anything. Icons on desktop and if I click on them, I can still run them or at least get the prompt to. It prompted me to reboot when it finished and I did that...followed all directions. Maybe I'm missing something.

Ok, go into add remove programmes and uninstall anything you don`t want or need.
Then, just delete any of the programmes you downloaded, that aren`t in add remove programmes, that you don`t wish to keep.

Easy enough. Right now I've left them as I'm going to make sure everything is fine for a day or two. I'm sure it is as i'm having no problems. About the only thing going on is the red x is showing up as if I'm not connected to the wireless network, but apparently I am as I'm able to access the internet and sites. Something weird I guess and may work itself out. I appreciate your help!

I have a similar problem with the network status icon not always showing the two screens with the little planet in front of them too mate. Sometimes it works right, sometimes it will say anything but the right one. I don't know if there's a way to sort it or not, I've just started to live with it and stopped trusting it Usually disconnecting from the network and connecting it again will show the right icon though.
If you want to pursue this any further, post in our Microsoft Windows forum.

If you want to pursue this any further, post in our Microsoft Windows forum. | It started working again when I shut down the other night and started back up yesterday. Haven't had any problems since, but some friends have said they've had the same thing happen as well. I think you were right with the disconnecting part as when I shut down, disconnected from the network, and rebooted, connecting again, it works. Amazing!
I've been reading up on all the viruses, malware trojans etc that are out there. Definitely makes me realize you have to be very careful and pay attention when surfing the "world wide web". | | | Only registered members can participate in forum threads.
