A word of warning, Ubuntu 8.10 is causing a lot of problems, use it as a live CD till you get used to it.
If you are dual booting and do not like it, start up your computer with the XP CD in, go to the console, type fixmbr and then reboot, go to disk management, find the partitions for the Linux install, delete them from the right to left (and they will merge) then format the single partition in NFTS.

Mm, that's both interesting and concerning.

What exactly do you mean by causing a lot of problems?

Personally, I'm running Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron.

On the Ubuntu and other forums, there are lots of people who are having trouble with WiFI, Nvidia drivers and shutting down there computers.
People who are new to Linux certainly do not want to start editing the xorg.conf file, and without an internet connection they cannot get help.

I'm running Kubuntu 8.04 because KDE 3.5.9 is
a very stable - KDE4 is still too young and buggy...

Look:
Thoughts on Ubuntu 8.10.

That's a great read and thanks for posting the link mate.

Maybe I've just been lucky, but I haven't had any such problems myself, other than the fact my TV card won't work properly, but that's just a minor issue and not one that bothers me too much.
