Ok so how exactly do you install something on linux?
I am playing around with a Virtual Machine, and it happens to be Ubuntu 8.04. But I need to know how to install the linux version of TeamSpeak.
Found on this page ---> TeamSpeak - Downloads
And also its the server version, probably doesn't make a difference which one it is though. So can anybody explain to me how to install this program... or any other for that matter?

The file you are trying to install is a tar file, if you go to the link below and read number 2 it will show you how to do it. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/CompilingEasyHowTo |

Ok so I am running into a problemo. When trying to do this part Quote:
You should then build a common directory for yourself where you'll be building these packages. We recommend creating /usr/local/src, but really you can put it anywhere you want. Make sure this directory is writable by your primary user account, by running
sudo chown yourusername /usr/local/src
| I get a "No such file or directory". So I guess I am stuck...
wait!!! I think I figured it out.. I was putting user... when its supposed to be usr.... lol
edit
Ok I am stuck again....
Can't get past Quote: |
Step 3: Resolving Dependencies.
| Where in the world do I find the /usr/local/src place to actually extract my download....???

If you cannot find this directory you will have to make it.
mkdir /usr/local/src
For a complete run down of any problems that can occur and how to solve them, have a read of this. Shoot a terminal and install a ball
