Wired or wireless? Wired just plug it in don't need to do anything.
Wireless:- System Preferences -> Network -> Airport -> Turn Airport on -> Then just enter your settings

Well its simple ether way, it will come with pretty much every thing you need the only software I have installed that wasn't on it to start with is MSN, Firefox, MS Office, Photoshop etc, and Vuze.
You have time machine which IS the best backup software out there
Itunes which is better than anything for music
Safari which isnt bad for browsing, its claimed to be better than FF but I don't agree
Check out the applications folder there so much awesome software there.

Honestly I'm not quite sure what you've done. What exactly did you do before it started acting like this?

To be truthful, if it stopped in the middle of an app and now won't run at all, I would take it back to the supplier before you anything to prejudice the warranty.

You get 12 month warranty and 30 days free tech support with any mac so use that.
From what BM has told me on msn the OS disk was put in (im not quite sure why) and then the system hasn't been working from then on.
