I use Windows Live Messenger. I have Skype because me and my cousin (currently in Hong Kong) used to use it quite a bit, but we randomly stopped using it I suppose.
I would post a picture of us so you'd see the family resemblance, but for fear of kathy getting hold of it I won't hehe

She does indeed mate haha
Be careful what you say though, or she'll find one of you with her magic powers and do horrible things to you! Digitally!!!
Skype's ok, it's predominantly VoIP, so you can call other Skype people for free, or you can do text chat as well, but it's fairly basic as it's not as established as MSN, AIM or Yahoo etc.

lol
I am used to windows live because everyone else uses it. If I try other stuff it feels weird. I use the old one though, I can't be arsed to download the latest one.

I use Windows Live messenger.
There is a gripe me and Josh were talking about a while back about WLM. When you double click a group name, it brings up that horrendous 'Edit Groups', which is the worse feature they could of put in WLM. It crashes my computer for a couple of seconds, and Josh said it crashes is a little, which is a complete and utter joke as Josh as one great system.
Other than that, it works fine.
If anyone as a test machine and is interested in testing BETA programs, go HERE. Not only is it a great experience, you may get something in return.

(@ Spleenharvester) Fair enough, mate
I started using MSN with version 6.something after my cousin decided to get a Hotmail account and have used MSN instead of Yahoo ever since.
Which version are you using? Is it called Windows Live or is it MSN 7.5? As far as I know there's only WLM 8.0 and 8.5. No idea what mine is, probably the latest one haha

That has got to be the most amusing post I`ve seen on TST chick.
It literally had me rolling around laughing. I almost spilled my coffee.
I agree with Kathy, that Skype is very good and stable on the audio. It is a bit of a resource hog at times and the file transfer seems to be unbelievably slow.
Yahoo on the other hand, has very fast file transfers, but the audio is useless and keeps cutting out. I like the chat part of Yahoo though and that`s what I mainly use it for. Plus it gives me email alerts, which I find very handy.

WIGH - I forgive you for the spoof on my teccie support role - it was too good to get upset about! Just as well that Lionheart Computers does not exist (afik)!
Personally I think you are all mad using any form of messenger - never get a minutes peace on a system. I don't and won't have anything to do with them!
EDIT - Lionheart Computers do exist and lurk in Ontario! Sheesh - check it out and hope they don't find out! http://lionheartcomputers.com/contacts.html

Well geeze Albert guess we will never get to chat if you don't use any IM. I couldn't live without it...it's my lifeline.

I can see IMs are useful, but maybe with my advanced years I like to take things slow and gentle! I also try and run a business from my desk so don't need the distractions!

I'm always slow and gentle and ready for a good chat. But can understand how it would be a distraction. |

I asked because my Uncle Jim lives in British Columbia and his email ends in .ca - thanks for clearing up the confusion. It is the drink you know. Never been to California but know Louisville really well as used to work for UPS.
Getting off track - guess we ought to use an IM !
