I have an aversion to spending the best part of £300 for Adobe's UK priced ripoff - does anyone know of an alternative legal product with the same PDF read and write functions?
There are alternatives that will write to a printer but not to a file - full functionality is needed!

Lots of help! Thanks, Pet. Now you can put your bathers on and get back to the beach!

At work I use a program called PDF995 to create PDF's from Word and Excel documents, via the print method. You can use Adobe Reader as normal to open them. Both are free

Thanks Dave - I have been looking at Foxit which seems to fit the bill - although it does cost some cash!
But as it is for a client....

No problem at all
Ahh, I assumed it was for your own use. The PDF995 brings up a sponsor box thing each time you use it unless you get the Pro one, which is fine for me as I use it a couple of times every few weeks or so, but I wouldn't give it to a client.
There's one that comes on our HP machines called PDF Complete, you get a free trial then it puts a box on all the PDF's saying "trial is over" etc until you buy it. I had no idea it was a trial until that came up, I thought it was a program that the company used

Thanks Dave - my client and I have looked at the options and he likes the Foxit product as it seems really easy to use. Guess we will go for that once the trial period has run out!
