There are no troubles or anything, they work both through speaker and headphones. But I was curious, is there a way to have the sound be louder than it can be? I have it as loud as I can get it and the sound on the headphones is still kind of low. Now just so you know, I am hearing impaired which may be why it sounds real low for me. But I'm just curious if there was a way to be able to turn it up louder than it is?
Any suggestions would be appreciated... thanks!

if you have an amplifier, like for a guitar, you can actually route your speakers through it with the right cables and attachments, and that will both make it louder and give you an equalizer to play with. more bass, more treble, etc.
i have some of the extra bits and pieces to play with, and i've actually tried this method. and it works quite well. i did it for fun though, not because i couldn't hear it well enough. hehe.

Just check in your sound settings ( control panel sounds and audio tab )
under advanced and see if you have a loudness box
if so tick it

Hey thanks Donna, I think that actually worked... If not, lol I'll let you know but I think it did because sounds seem a lot louder. Thanks so much!!
Edit: Sorry about this, I didn't even think to put this in the Sounds and Speakers forum... if someone wants to move this there that is alright with me, I apologize!!!

Sorry about the wobbly circling
im on my first coffee
One way to check is to play a song with it unchecked and then check it while you are listening to it

Another thing you can do is to buy a pair of headphones with a low impedence.
I will explain, most headphones have an impedence of 32 ohms or more. The impedence limits the ammount of sound the speakers in the headphones can make to protect both the speakers and the user.
24 ohm or less will be much louder. It may also be possible to get headphones made especially for the hearing impaired. I would have a google myself but i am currently in an internet caffee and my time here is limited.
I apologise for any spelling errors, but there is no spell checker installe on this pc.

Thank you, I will definitely have to take a look into that. Thank you for bringing that to my attention.

I think that I have come across headphones that are 16 Ohms before, so they are out there if you look around

Just a word of caution - check that your sound card will support low impedance cans as some cards depend on the resistance to balance the circuit - if it is too low it could cause problems on the sound card.

Thank you Dave! It used to be really critical on valve systems and early transistors used to overheat if either no speakers were connected or they were too high impedance.

It may also be possible to buy a small headphone amplifier. I used to have one many years ago but haven't seen any about recently.

Thanks everyone for the tips. I think what Donna had given for a suggestion worked because I haven't had any problems being able to hear people talk when watching movies on my computer.
Thanks again!!

Now the weird thing is, I'm assuming you have Windows XP, right? Well, the computer I was trying to get to do the higher volume on was Vista windows. Now it worked, but now I'm on XP windows and I can't seem to do what you suggested. Any thoughts on this?

Well when I click on Volume it brings up the Speaker stuff... such as:
Speaker Balance, Wave Balance, SW Synth Balance, CD Player Balance, Microphone Balance and that's it. The only one muted on that one is the Microphone.
Now when I click on Advanced the following tabs are shown: Speakers, Performance, Effects...
On the Speakers tab it has the Speaker Setup as Stereo headphones.
Under the Performance tab, the audio playback is full as the hardware acceleration and the Sample rate conversion quality is set to Best.
Under the Effects tab it is set to none, and when I click on the drop down arrow there is nothing in the list.
Anything else you want?
