You are generalizing registry cleaners as a whole. That means every piece of software that deals with the registry is crap.

Do you not understand that we use it for the DISK cleaning function?

People who bitch and moan about something to prove a point are really annoying. You went through the trouble to point out others who have had problems. Now post how many millions have had positive results. I'm sure the majority will be a bit off balance to the good.

Yes correct, perhaps more than "crap" I would say worthless or meaningless except for their ability to damage your OS. I see no established reason to "clean" a registry at all, nothing to be gained, only plenty to be lost. But that is my opinion.....

Again, IMHO, in the days when we had 2.5 gb hard drives, cleaning a drive was a seriously important function and we all used such things. Today the average pc I service has a 250 Gb hard drive with 12Gb in use so frankly I see no need and again only possible harm coming from such use. Now we can optimize hard drives by removing installs or .exe's from the Root of C drive sure, but ccleaner doesn't do that. We can remove excess icons from the desktop and start menu to ease bootup time but again ccleaner does not do that. I'm afraid in today's computing world, again IMHO it is meaningless dribble that can actually do much more harm than good and to advise new users to implement it or anything similar, I consider not the given purpose of a public tech support forum or it's officers.

The Different Between One Registry Cleaner Software And Another Idiots Guide for Technology

Quote:
Registry Fix No. 2: CCleaner

Being a free registry cleaner, CCleaner has built a huge and solid following, with most of its patrons claiming that they have been using this registry fix as soon as it was released almost 5 years ago, and they have never looked for any other reg cleaner since then.

For a free registry fix, CCleaner’s features are simply amazing. CCleaner does things right. It erases the useless and redundant files in the registry, and it never meddles with files that may affect the performance of Windows.

And it is constantly updated! This is something that free registry fixes can seldom afford.

Not the purpose of your forum?

Keep the arguments there. Your members seem to really enjoy disagreements and any chance to put something/someone down. We do things differently here.

This topic was to let everyone who cares know that CCleaner had updated to a new version. Once a new update is released I will post about that one as well.

Every one has had a fair amount of space and time to voice their concerns in this thread and I'm pretty sure everything has been covered now.
