I thought it might be interesting to share any neat little tricks we have learned:
I find this one really useful when accessing machines across a network where there are different domains and workgroups present.
If you know the IP address of the machine you want to reach, simply type in the IP address preceded by \\ at the run command and you will be able to see all the shared resources on the target machine.
Example \\192.168.1.10

One thing i use on the odd occasion. Some websites occasionally use small writing, it can be magnified with Ctrl+mouse wheel.

That explaines why I could not repeat the trick - I held down the crtl key by accident the first time......

Another one.
I have no idea why this works, but if a drive refuses to boot I have found that by connecting it to another system as a secondary drive (to try and extract data, for example), something about forcing access to it will mean that it will recover and behave quite normally when refitted to the original machine. Works with PATA and SATA drives. Not tried it with a SCSI though.
Always worth a try if you have a second machine handy!
Hope Cassidy has just reminded me of another one for hard drives - stick them in a plastic bag and then into the freezer overnight. This has been known to work but is very much a last last resort!

Want to find files
Need to check sizes of them
its fun
Next press Start->Run, copy/paste the following command (it's one long command) into the box and press OK:
Replace with file you want to check in red Quote: |
cmd /c dir /a /s c:\user32.dll >> "%userprofile%\desktop\look.txt"
|
A black box will open and a file will appear on your Desktop called look.txt.
