From the title it does not have to be security = so I recommend OpenOffice - a free download with Word, Excel and PowerPoint elements amongst others that will freely interact with output from MS Office suite.

Download at download: OpenOffice.org Downloads

The list in post #1 will be updated to add new suggestions.

Feel free to add new freeware that will fit into new categories and we will create them as needed.

One can also do screen captures by simply pressing the Prt Sc (Print Screen Key)
This places a copy of whatever screen is current into cache memory and they that screen copy can be pasted and edited as required in any picture/image editor such as MSPAINT or PHOTOSHOP, etc.

With Screenhunter you crop only what you want not the whole screen and crop later. It supports gif, jpeg, and bmp to save the file as.

Done.

I'm using restraint and not adding too much myself. I have a sickness when it comes to creating lists...

I use FireShot. It is an add-on to Firefox and allows cropping etc.
