From the title it does not have to be security = so I recommend OpenOffice - a free download with Word, Excel and PowerPoint elements amongst others that will freely interact with output from MS Office suite.

This places a copy of whatever screen is current into cache memory and they that screen copy can be pasted and edited as required in any picture/image editor such as MSPAINT or PHOTOSHOP, etc.

With Screenhunter you crop only what you want not the whole screen and crop later. It supports gif, jpeg, and bmp to save the file as.
