Firewall Issues

Hello All,

I am hoping someone can assist me. I have a rather unusual problem, I think. I was recently given my old computer from where I work, when the IT department gave me a new one. I brought it home to be used as an extra family computer, mostly for the children's use.

My username is attached to a domain called DOMAIN, whereas the usernames I added for the children are attached to another domain -which is 'this computer'.

My issue arises with the firewall.

I downloaded and installed privatefirewall from snap files, when logged on as myself. It seemed to work fine. However, whenever one of my children log on, a pop up comes up stating that the firewall has to be reinstalled. I don't understand how to have the firewall cover the entire computer and all the users. I am assuming it is an issue related to the two domains?

Any assistance you can provide is much appreciated!

you don't tell what operating system you have but in principle I would always recommend disabling any PC based firewall and putting your faith in the firewall which you should have in your router.

Solution

Hi, and thanks so much for your reply.

Last night I installed comodo firewall for 32 bit system and it is working well, and covers all users that I created. I deleted my old original user name and profile after creating a new one with admin rights. We still see the other two domains in the login field, but just ignore them.

Thanks again!
