Ad-Aware SE Discontinued

If you are still using this program it is time to switch to the Ad-Aware 2007 Free version as the SE version is no longer supported (it will no longer update).

Quote:
"No more updates past 31 Dec 2007 for Ad-Aware SE. All SE users should be switching now to Ad-Aware 2007 if you haven't already done that yet.
The subforums for SE will also be going away shortly
thereafter." -LavaSoft
New version can be downloaded from Lavasoft. http://www.lavasoftusa.com/products/ad_aware_free.php

That's annoying, I just installed SE on my friend's dad's laptop.

Better upgrade it to '07 version in a bit then

Lol, in that case, I suggest you read Evilfantasy`s Ad-Aware2007 guide HERE. It even shows you how to disable the awful Ad-Aware2007 service that runs in the backgound.

Regards Howard

Sounds good mate, I'll check that out when I can go back on the other PC.

Right now I'm on my friend's laptop and watching Jimmy Carr on DVD

SS&D
AVG Antispyware
Superantispyware
PrevX

The list goes on, but I`d stick with SS&D, Ad-Aware2007, and AVG Antispyware or Superantispyware.

On top of that, I recommend the use of Spyware Blaster.

Regards Howard

Ad-Aware SE seemed so much faster than 2007. I suppose they ought to make a 2008 one now.

It's quite a shame Ad-Aware SE is no longer supported, I've used this for a long time on my Windows ME system

The Manual download has not been updated for about week now so who know how long that will last, anyway decided to uninstall SE a few days ago.

Not sure yet what to use in it's place, think I may try "Superantispyware" .

I suppose I should uninstall SE as well now. I've had it for years and haven't had problems with it, but I already have Spybot and AVG AS so I might just leave it at them two.

There seems to be a bit of miscommunication on Ad-Aware SE. It is no longer supported by live updates though they are still releasing manual update flies. No autoupdates.

There were two last week and one was just released.

Get it HERE or HERE

But yet the Lavasoft forums have this announcement.

A little confusing to say the least mate.

BTW: Your first definitions file link is actually for Ad-Aware2007 I believe.

Thanks for the info.
