AVG Free Edition update failed.

FYI
Not to worry. This happens occasionally with AVG. Eventually the update will
load and install. I've never seen it out for more than a couple hours if at all.
It's really no biggie. AVG Free works great for me.
(yeah really, 3 thumbs up)

You get what you pay for, as my granny used to say. I have come across a whole load of cases over the last few weeks where AVG has failed to work properly and worse, failed to protect the user's system from trojans. Not in my book

That is what it was being used for! Protection, that is, not a scanner.

This is me in another free vs paid software debate.
If one is happy paying for everything, I am just as happy paying for nothing.
I'll match my free protection against anyone's paid protection.
No one set of protection tools either paid or free work for everyone all the time.
The variables are too numerous to mention.
I am very comfortable surf'n to places where no man has gone before or has
gone and never came back alive. To each their own.
(the zipper was to just stop me from revealing all the great free protection I use
very, very successfully)
Happy and safe surf'n!!!!

OK, Albert, I'll spring for yours too.

Maybe I should like AVG too - it seems to bring me more work than anything else!

Generally failing to deal with trojans. Ok I know that you cannot defend against stupidity but it seems to have completely missed several. On one machine it was running some anti-spyware (another freebie) and one another machine the AVG was on it's own. In both the most recent cases these threats came from dodgy P2P sites.

That might be the problem
I run Malwarebytes pro as well

However saying that AVG is very good at protecting me from dodgy websites

All downloads are set to be scanned
