Sdelete and Eraser

Anyone familiar with or used any of these apps?
Both are for secure overwriting deleted information/data from disk free space.
Sdelete is a small 45KB command line utility. Very easy to use. But be careful.

Eraser is 9MB install that runs in Windows. More options but still pretty easy.

Both these apps will wipe your whole hard drive clean if you so choose.
So be careful what you choose and make backups just in case.

I've used Eraser in the past - seems to do a good job. I agree you have to be careful what you are deleting....

Haven't tried sdelete though.

Thanks to both.
I had never seen either so was curious. Both have been around for awhile.
Sdelete is pretty slick. CMD line and 5 options...bada bing.
I don't really know if either app will totally destroy sensitive data that can not
be recovered by the most advanced digital forensic snoopers as the technology
changes every day.

I once used Eraser and I was pleased with the results. It took almost two days to wipe out my 18GB HDD but then I used the 35 pass method. They are quite safe to use and are usually applied when you want to donate your computer and want to clear your every trace on it. I personally did it to remove a pesky version of Vundo.
