BM, try this.

If you are having any problems with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware protection please do the following.

Copy and paste your MBAM license in notepad and save it to your desktop before using this method.

1. Uninstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware using Add/Remove programs in the control panel.
2. Restart your computer (very important).
3. Download and run this utility.
4. It will ask to restart your computer (please allow it to).
5. After the computer restarts, install the latest version from here.

Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via e-mail.

My research leads to this:the error code relates to Scheduled Tasks app, try this and see if mbam shows in the Scheduled window, mind does, If not then add it to the schduled task and see if this works.

How To Schedule Tasks in Windows XP

Hello BM

This is the bird flying into the cats mouth thought, your Scheduled Tasks time is showing the 24hr format and just maybe its has a conflict with MBAMs 12hr format.

First follow system tray clock method, then uninstall MBAM/reboot and then reinstall/update MBAM.

If the system tray clock is showing the 24 hour format, the steps below will change it to the 12 hour format
  • Goto Control Panel
  • Click Regional and Language Options
  • Click Customize then click Time
  • In the Time format box change it to look like this:
  • h:mm:tt = 9:07:PM (this is a time sample)
  • Restart computer.

ps. I have used this system tray clock method to change the internal clock settings after testing
so many rogues on my live test box when I could not change the internal clock setting via the BIOS

Hello BM

Double-check this, btw. whats your OS?

Restarting the Task Scheduler
  • Go to Start > Run and type services.msc
  • Scroll down to Task Scheduler
  • Right-click Task Scheduler and select Properties
  • Click the Log On tab.
  • In the Log-On menu, Local System Account box should have a checkmark. (If not, check it)
  • Click OK
  • Restart the service
  • Close the Service window
Note: In the General Menu should see this type of setup:
  • Path to executable: %SystemRoot%\System32\svchost.exe -k netsvcs
  • Startup type: Automatic
  • Service status: Started

See if this clears things up:
Download the VB6 Sp6 runtime installer from here and save to your desktop
Click the vbrun60Sp6 icon and follow the prompts to install.
Next, try to run MBAM and update before initiating a scan. Let me know how it goes

So Task Scheduler and MBAM updates are now working, thats good. Now step back from the computer and take a break.
I will be quite busy now refurbishing a computer to donate, wrting CSs/Tutorials and testing a non-malware security program, this is going fun
I'll drop in again in day or two
