Wasn't sure if i should put this in the Chit-Chat forum or not but as it is mainly to do with the Wii then i thought i had better put it here.
Since the release of the Nintendo Wii is has proved itself to be a very popular console. In fact it is so popular that it is outselling the XBOX 360. In the next year if the sales figures continue if will outsell the XBOX 360 and the PSP together.
Game developers will therefore be forced to redisgn games to cope with the demand and for a chunk of the market. However due to the Graphics and processing power being MUCH POORER than the XBOX 360 and of course the PS3 what is going to happen? The developers are effectivly going to have to take a step back and redevlop the games.
As much as i like the technology behing the Wii i think that it is far overrated and over estimated.

Nintendo's graphics on consoles haven't ever been brilliant. They aren't going backwards though-slowly but surely they're getting better. I wouldn't be surprised if their next console has a big step up in terms of graphics, as all other competitors will be zooming ahead if they don't. I agree about the overrated technology though - it's good but is, like you said, overrated. The games have always been different for the Wii-Publishers won't have to redesign games as most games out on Wii are only available on Wii, no others.
Just to add, the Wii has a lot of potential that is not being used. I struggle to find a game for it that's not something like 'Shrek 3', as they are mainly just rubbishy kid's games. They could make some that are a lot better.

I find that the Wii has a wide range of games for all ages. Instead of the 360 and PS3 which their vast majority of games are just 1st person shooters, which i'm starting to get really bored of them. The Wii is making a point that good graphics don't necessarily result in good gameplay. If you look at all the past consoles and their competitors of that particular generation, It's always the better graphical console that comes out worst. I agree that it's technology is overrated, but to be honest, I think that is the case of all the latest consoles. There is nothing that we haven't seen before besides blu-ray but in my opinion even that is nothing to make you go WOW

Quite a few of them are first person shooters but there are also quite a few racing games and strategy games around. There are also Xbox originals and arcade games.

You will find that there are much more 1st person shooters in comparison to any other genre. Just look at the list of games list of Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Xbox_360_games |

Touché. There are still other game types though.

Where the WII scores over the others is in two key areas
1: after a few moments 'training' almost anyone can use it
and
2: the interactivity

| depends on the game really. Like other consoles some are easy to learn and some aren't. The novelty wears off after a while. It's still good technology though.
