I am actually building a new gaming machine as my old one suffered an "accident" "sniff" goodbye A8N-SLI motherboard "sniff" (its ok it had a gd funeral).
Any tips on New hardware or hardware you think i should use or other people should use let me know. Shove yours specs here to see who has the biggest.
so far i have 4Gb Corsair DDR2 PC5400 RAM 2 x 750Gb HDD two DVD +/-RW.
not sure on AMD or Intel as the new AMD Quad Cores are now out. Beware though these early versions do have a lot of compatability probklems.

heh, what happened to a8n-SLI btw ?
My A8N-SLI went south, after my dad's soundblaster live 5.1 card blew it aparts.
You should go for intel instead.
It has better pricing on it, or even better, wait for the new Q9XXX chips.

Well I don't really play the most demanding games on my computer. Probably the most demanding being FEAR, but I don't play that often. I plan to upgrade my computer once again soon . Get another 4GB RAM in there and max it out. New graphics card too, and another hard drive to stripe in a RAID 0 array

lmao....FEAR was the most demanding a couple years ago but not anymore. i'd say Crysis is waaay up there on the "laugh in your hardware's face" scale.

Oh I know, but I don't really play many demanding games, that being my point lol.
I'm sure my system will run Crysis in max settings no problem as soon as i've finished with it

Yes, demanding as in maximum settings, and full AA. That particular system would struggle tremendously then lol

Another game that needs a really extreme spec is Splinter Cell 4. I've tried the demo and it stutters like mad, and I know my PC isn't exactly top-of-the-range but it is about average and barely meets the minimum requirements. I have the 360 version and it is worse.

am certainly not in the same league as "gamers"... only play FFXI on my PC and it plays without problems...other than occasional 'lag' that I attribute to my router or their servers being extremely busy.
my puter specs here: http://techsupportteam.org/forum/showthread.php?t=794
do wish I had gone ahead and gotten the 4 gigs of ram instead of 2...

I'm not really much of a PC gamer... Splinter cell is the only PC game I play. I do play a lot of 360 games though.
