MW4 Online Multiplayer connection issues

Hello there,

I just got Mechwarrior 4: Mercenaries (the one that has been re-released from Mektek) and would love to play online. However, every time I go to join a game, it will list all of the available games with pings, and number of players, but when I click on "Join" it will simply give me this message: "Cannot join the selected game. There may be networking problems or the server may be gone." The server is obviously there because it shows other people playing in it. I have gone through and tried everything that I can find online to get it to connect, but still nothing. I tried forwarding all my ports, allowing the game through the firewall, turned the firewall off completely, and bypassed my router and went straight from modem to computer, but none of these worked. I am out of ideas, and at the moment, the internet seems to be out of ideas as well. If anybody could help me out with this problem, that would be wonderful.

Many thanks,

live4tenors

PS-I will provide as much information as is needed to solve this issue.

Current setup:
Embarq 660 Series modem>Dynex E-401 Router>Laptop

Laptop Specs:
HP Pavilion dv6000
AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-56 1.80 GHz
Memory (RAM): 1.00
System Type: 32-bit
OS: Vista Home Premium w/Service Pack 2

PSS- For the port forwarding, I followed all of the instructions provided by portforward.com, but when I downloaded their PortChecker to see if my ports were actually open, NONE of them were. Not sure what is going on there either...
